Yukito Kishiro authors and draws Manga. His execution is absolutely genius. The scrutinizing that goes into the art would make you go mad. The research that goes into his main story is mind-blowingly intelligent. Why this man is overlooked by so many does not make sense, but very few things makes sense nowadays…
BAA is such an epic story that the Author wen’t crazy trying to meet the deadlines. He ended up checking into Rehab and prematurely ending the story in what I consider a NICE ending. BAA Last Order came out several years later continuing the first story before it ended. It is still an ongoing.
A megalopolis “Tiphares” soars in the sky, and the town of
scrap iron “The Scrapyard” extends under that. Ido who is a cyberphysician discovers the head of a cyborg girl in a hibernating state, at the scrapheap exhausted from Tiphares. Before long, the girl named Alita is given a body but only a fragment of her memories remain. As she discovers that she can kick ass, she leads the road of a soldier to the discovery of oneself. It is a beautiful Psychological Sci-Fi Action story of Pivotal proportions. It makes references to ancient literature, science, martial arts, history, even Arthurian mythology. Well researched and annotated for your convenience.
Aqua Knight is what he created in Rehab just for fun, no deadlines. It is pretty much the opposite of BAA/BAA Last Order. Where as Alita’s world can be incredibly ugly/grim/insane Lady Ruliya’s world is beautiful, but not without problems. Marmundo is 90 Percent water and Lady Ruliya is destined to become the Greatest Aqua Knight, but her parents are hard to impress. She sets out on an adventure that she hopes is worthy of her parents glory. This is light-hearted, fun and only three issues… which kinda sucks because Marmundo is amazing.
